Displaying Almagest Lectures

Almagest lectures can be presented in the classroom, or viewed privately on a personal computer using a standard Windows Internet browser or Mac Internet browser.

The steps below outline how to open a lecture for viewing. To navigate through the lecture once it is open, see Lecture Navigation and Shortcut Keys.

To open a lecture for viewing:

  1. Select the course name (project) from the Project List.
  2. From the Explore menu, select View Lectures.
  3. Select the lecture you want to view from the Lecture list. The lectures that display are specific to the selected course or project.
To view multiple lectures, select the first lecture and then Ctrl+click the subsequent lecture or lectures you wish to view. Multiple lectures are appended one after the other and will display in the order that they appear in the list.
  4. Select the Display Mode (underneath the lecture list). By default, Almagest lectures are displayed in Student Study Mode.

Student Study Mode—the lecture images display with all labels and descriptive information in full view.

Student Study with Labels— the lecture images display in full-view, with descriptive data beneath each image.

Quiz Me!—the lecture images display in a random order and labels and descriptive information are hidden from immediate view. The Show Label button displays image details when clicked. A vertical navigation bar provides the means to navigate through the image list (the up and down arrows) and to focus the image view on a particular image (the image numbers).

Slide Show—the lecture images display in large format on a black background. The navigation bar is hidden from view. Used for classroom display. Note that keyboard shortcut keys must be used.

Lecture—the lecture images display in large format. A navigation bar displays at the bottom of the screen and includes navigation controls (up and down arrows) and the title of each image. Used for classroom display.

Printable Image List—produces a list of the lecture images in a printable format.

  5. Choose the Scroller Mode (the default is Normal mode).

Normal—places the navigational elements (up and down arrows and image numbers) in the center of the display.

Dual Projector—places the navigational elements (up and down arrows and image numbers) to the left of the display and is most useful when displaying an Almagest lecture spanning over two screens.

  6. Click the Show the Lecture(s) button to display the lecture.
