Adding Data to the Almagest Database
The data stored in the Almagest database is classified by
the type of data it is: image, object, person, bibliography, multimedia, or text document.
When adding data to Almagest, you first select the
type of data you are adding.
To add data to the Almagest database:
- Choose a course (project) from the Project List
and click the Go button.
Note: Click the Select Project button
in the Almagest header to return to the Project List page.
- Click the Log On button to authenticate for editing privileges.
- From the Contribute section in the menu on the
left, select Manage Data.
- Select the type of data you want to add and
click the Go button.
Images - images
or digital representations of a work or work of art.
Objects - actual work or works
of art.
People - artists, architects,
philosophers, etc.
Bibliography - references to publications
in which databae elements are published.
Multimedia - sound files, video,
PowerPoint presentations, etc.
Text Document - text, Microsoft
Word, Microsoft Excel, html, etc.
- Enter descriptive data into the data-specific
fields to define the data you are adding to the database. Fields
preceded by an * (asterisk) are required; the others are optional.
Note that the data you provide in the data fields help users
locate your data when performing searches for data.
- Click the Create Record
button to commit your data to the Almagest database.
